Funny Wedding Vows...

...to be or not to be? That is the question!

So you are planning your big day and you and your spouse-to-be have decided that you want to add a little humor to your vows, right?

I believe every marriage must have humor in it so why not start with funny wedding vows during your wedding ceremony?

My husband and I didn't add any jokes to ours but we added the fact that we love to joke around and laugh with each other. So, in our vows we promised to do that.

Here are the vows we exchanged: My husbands: I, Brian, take you, Beth, to be my wife, my partner in life and my one true love. I give you this ring as a pledge of my love, and as a symbol of our unity. I promise to make you laugh everyday, to remain faithful to our vows for better or for worse, in times of sickness and in health and to love you everyday, in good times and in bad,. I promise that together we will face all of life's experiences and share one another's dreams and goals for as long as we both shall live. I love you. My Vows: I, Bethany, take you Brian to be my husband, my partner in life and my one true love. I give you this ring as a pledge of my love, and as a symbol of our unity. Because of you, I laugh, I smile, and I dare to dream again. You have helped me let go of the past, and I embrace the future. Brian, I look forward with great joy to spending the rest of my life with you. I promise I will always cherish our union and love you more each day than I did the day before. I will trust you and respect you, I promise I will laugh at all your jokes and cry with you when things aren't so funny. I promise to love you faithfully through good times and bad, regardless of the obstacles we may face together, *including hurricanes. Today I give you my hand, my heart, and all of my love. I promise to always be there for you, and to love you and the boys, from this day forward for as long as we both shall live. I love you. (* I threw this in the day of the wedding because there was a hurricane that formed in the Gulf of Mexico which caused us to have to cancel our honeymoon to the Florida Keys and pick a new honeymoon location. We also live in Florida)

You can chose to add as much or as little humor to your funny wedding vows as you wish, but, it is best to keep it light (non-offensive).

The best way to personalize funny wedding vows is to include something humorous that relates to you and your spouse-to-be, but something that won't be embarrasing.

Traditional Vows Turned Into Funny Wedding Vows

You can take a traditional vow and remove parts of it, insert your own unique style and make it fit perfect for you and your spouse-to-be! Below are some sample wedding vows.

Grooms Funny Wedding Vow Example:

I, insert Groom's name, take you insert Bride's name, to be my wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, to run out and get ice cream for you in the middle of the night, to always put the toilet seat down when I'm done, to pick up my dirty socks everyday, and to occasionally miss a football game when we have something else to do; this I promise you from this day forward until death do us part.

Brides Funny Wedding Vows Example:

I, insert Bride's name, take you insert Groom's name, to be my husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, to let you watch your favorite football games without me complaining, to limit my shoe purchases to 8 a year (ok maybe 5), to not roll my eyes at you when you talk about fishing and to love and to cherish you; from this day forward until death do us part.

Your guests will love the humor of it if they really know the two of you and your vows will have more meaning for each of you.
